There U one young man in this
city who is liable to go into an
early decline on account of the
immense burden of responsibility
he seems to think has devolved
upon his shoulders, in the man
agement of the city's affairs. It
is true that the people have not
encouraged this young man to
assume any of the responaibili
ties of the city businesvbut he
is a very conscientious young
man and in as-much as the land
owners are paying him a salary
to act in m clerical capacity in the
government service for a period
of eight hours a day, he feels in
duty bound to use a large portion
of that time in stirring up trouble
for men whose hours of business
are too long each day to allow
them any leisure time to hunt
for trouble.
Now, we would like to know
who is responsible for the actions
of the Civic Federation? Is it
the President or the Secretary?
Hundreds of letters have been
sent out, signed by Harry Caden,
Secretary, which we believe have
baelr entirely without the
knowledge or saction of the
other officers or members of the
Federation. Any adverse criti
cism these letters may create.
naturally reacts against that
body. Now it is just such men
as these who are doing our city
as Inestimatable amount of harm.
Men who are content to spend
their life working for a small
monthly salary and whose only
asftbition seems to be to hear
themselves talk and see their
name in print The sooner the
Federation rids itself of such men
the sooner it will secure the sup
port of reliable business men and
property owners.
