Klamath's greatest bargains at $20 per acre an r . i --aMawaaaaaaaaiaaaaaai ABEL AD Senator Bourne ia pleased with the ruault of the primary election Jhia announcement will undoubt edly be a surprise to the people of Oregon. Yesterday's election resulted in many of the strongest support ers of the licensed saloon desert ing the ranks, and going over to the local option forces. When the saloon men get to fighting among themselves, it isn't hard to predict the result of the June election. If any of the friends of Frank Ward were justly offended last evening by the partiality shown at the opera house in using the teroptican view to advertise Mr. Stilts candidacy. There were a few pxple present who did'nt pay their money for that purpose. j How would you like to be at Statement No. 1 Republican if Chamberlain gets the popular vote for Senator? If they vote for a Democrat they will be down and out with the Republican party; if they go back on their pledge they will be down and out with the people. So it looks as if their goose was cooked either There are a number of proper ty holders about the city who are to be congratulated on the splen did work they did in cleaning up the town. The improvement has been wonderful, but while a num ber of places have been thorough La cleaned there are also a num ber that still present a discourag ing appearance. It is never too late to begin the good work. Tlatfecr Ub4 NoUce United PlatM Ijtml Offlcf, Ukrvlcw Oregon, rVliruaiy 18, 1H08. Waliain, teglsler. who wax ax mayoi Two very good men received the nomination for Mayor at the election yesterday. It is unneces sary to say anything in support of Frank Ward, as most of our readers have known him much longer than we have. He is an old resident of this county and city and has always taken an active interest in the develop ment of the town. He is pledged to the enforcement of the law, the extending of the city limits and the bonding of the city for the payment of its debts. Mr. John Stiltt has been a resident of the city for nearly five years and is at present a very active member of the council. It is evi dent that many people have got ten the idea that the city election is going to be a local option fight These people should dis-abuso their minds of this opinion at once. Local option will be de cided at 'the election in June, but it or any other fight phould not be allowed to enter our city elec tion. The financial question is the one.important matter to be considered in the conduct of the city's affairs. If our city is to continue to prosper, it must be placed on a sound financial basis. There are many improveniefits which must be made and every month's delay in starting is just to that extent working harm to the town and endangering the property and business interests of every person who expects to sake this their home. The ques tion to be decided at the. election is, not whether one man is a sa loon man or a Civic Federation sain, but which one is the best financier and the most capable of successfully placing the city on iU feet again. - Petition for liquor License To the Honorable County Couil of the rilate Oregon (or Klamath County.
