The Sentinel is in receipt of a copy of the program for the fourth annual meet ing of the western division of thif Oregon State Teachers Association, which will be held in Portland on June 29, 30 and July 1, and of the*department of superinten dence which will lie held on June 2H. Jackson county is given a place of honor on the program by the large number of talent that is assigned to it, being more than that given to any of the counties other than Multnomah and Marion. £>f the Jackson county talent President B. F. Mulkey, of the Southern Oregon State Normal School, will deliver an address ou “Should a Person be Required bv Legislative Enactment to Complete the Work of the Tenth Grade or Its Equiva lent before Receiving a Certificate to Teach?”. President Mulkey will also deliver an address before the teachers on “Civil Government.” Prot. E. E. W ash burn, of the Jacksonville High Scluxil, is one of the six school principals who are to address the Association, the topic as signed to him beiug -•Character Growing in School and Home.” Another one ot the Jackson county talent is Miss Frances Barnes, now a student in the State Uni versity at Eugene, but prior to this year a teacher fur three years in the Jackson ville school. Miss Barnes will have as her topic “Language—Definite Worjf Outside the Textbook.” Thai the topics will be well handled and that the Jack- son county teachers will acquit them selves with credit is an assurance know u to all wuo are acquainted with Pres.Mul key, Prof. Washburn and Miss Barnes.
