Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Hafer returned to i
Jacksonville last Friday from a month's
visit at their old home at Council Bluffs,
Iowa, it living also a business trip for Mr.
Hafer, who is manager for the Iowa
Lumber Company's mill at this place,
the Company’s head office living at
Council Bluffs. Mr. Hafer reports very
good business through the middle West,
the crash in watered stock on the New
York market not affecting Western busi­
ness interest». The lumber trade was
never lietter and his father Mr. C. Hafer
who has a big yard at Council Bluffs has
' all the order» that he can fill.

maiden name was Mengoz was born in
France and with parents came to America
in 1854. May 10, lW8«he was married
in Dubuque, Iowa, to Nickolas Deiscb.
A few years after Mr. and Mrs. Deiscb
moved to Helena, /Arkansas. living there
until two years ago when they moved to
Alta, Iowa, and last year came to Jack­
sonville.
Besides het husband Mrs.
Iteisch leaves five children to mourn the
loss of a devoted wife and loving mother.
The children are Frank Deisch. of
Helena. Arkansas, Thomas Deisch. of
Alta. Iowa, and Frank, who is book­
keeper for the Jacksonville Gas Compa­
ny, and stenographer in A. E. Reanies
law office Maris and Noel, aged 11 and
13 years. As Mr. Iteisch can not properly
care for his little sons he will comply
with their mother’s request and place
them in some Catholic educational insti­
tution where they can lie educated and
trained.
Mrs. Deisch leaves two broth­
ers as her only other relatives in this
country, one of whom is Frank Mengoz
of this place and Peter Mengoz. of Helena
Arkansas.
