George Love, a former prominent bus­
iness man of this place who has been in
Alaska for three years, has been visiting
in this part of the country the jiast <ew
«lays. He is accompanied by his daugh­
ter, Miss Agnes, who has been attending
the Portland high school since leaving
Jacksonville a year ago. Mr. Love has
lieen engaged in selling beef cattle in
Alaska, which he has found to lie a pro­
fitable business. He expects to return
soon to resume his work.
The law says that the fall term of
circuit court for Jackson County shall
convene the first Monday in September
of each year, but a law of recent years
