Promises to reduce taxes to a ridiculously low level if another method used by such office seekers to endeavor to attract taxpayers to enlist in their campaign. In announcing my candidacy for the office of City Commis sioner I resolved to refrain from the making of any promise or any statement that might even remotely be construed as a prom ise to do anything if elected that I might find impossible to ac complish. My pledge to Portland citizens Is that I shall exercise my best judgment in the administration of the affairs of the City of Portland and that I shall faithfully endeavor to run the business of the city in the same careful and economical manner in which I conduct my own.
