The committee of congressmen,
headed by Congressman Fish, created
to investigate and dig into commun
ism in the United States, found out
that communism is a cobra-headed
monster; that its poisonous venom is
spreading and unless it is checked it
will destroy free and independent
America.
Because of these findings the Fish
committee recommends drastic action,
to-wit: refuse to recognize communist
party as a legitimate political party,
deport all communists, prohibit all
printed matter favorable to commun
ism. All of which is not worth the
paper it is written on.
If the spirit of communism is grow
ing in America, and we believe it is,
it is because of the reckless disre
gard which the ruling class has for
the rights of the average citizen.
With the general rise of intelligence
in America, the bait which once lured
the unthinking workers into the trap
of the dominating group will fail.
The starving multitudes in the
“ richest” and “ grandest” country in
the world take no pleasure and re
ceive no comfort from big buildings,
towering palaces and giant mergers.
They have a right to expect a square
deal. And if Qie present form of
government is unable to give them
bread they will turn to something else
— even communism. And all the forces
o f the world will not be able to stop
it.
I f communism is dangerous, and
the Fish committee thinks it is, the
way to stop it is not by drastic pro
hibitory laws, but by an intelligent
and fair distribution of profits. When
men are hungry and have nowhere to
lay their heads they seek change.
W hen suffering becomes general and
widespread, men become more inter
ested in bread than they do in forms
of government.
To end the communistic movement
in America, make thet oilers satisfied
