POLITICAL RECOGNITION
Some of the rock-ribbed colored
Republican! in Oregon are damning
the leaders and office holders of the
party for no other reason than that
they are sot now receiving and
■ever have received any substantial
recognition in the way of political
appointments. The guestion la: Why*
Now while the office holders are
largely to blame for the lack ot loy-
ally and appreciation tor the col-
ored voters’ support, the colored vot-
ere must lay some of the blame upon
themselves, for they are not in har
mony and have been unable to agree
upon the selection of the proper men
»nd women to lead them. We admit
that conditions are not what they
should be and will never be so long
as the leadership is content with
empty promises and a few paltry
dollars.
THE COMMITTEES
It’s getting to be a habit polltcally
when a committee ot prominent clti-
aeni recommend men and measures
for the voters to support, the com-
mittee’s
selection
generally goes
through with a bang Examples: A
committee named the county com
mlssioners; they were elected.
A
committee named the school direc
tors; they were elected.
This all
goes to show that when the average
voter knows who and what to vote
for. with confidence in their leaders,
they usually follow their advice, and
get somewhere.

The recent mob of five hundred

In no other nation is the danger of
decay of patriotism so great as our
