Poor men of yesterday be come rich men of todqy. -Simply by owning a Hina 11 oil lease near a well. Recently 2*4» acres in El Dorado field sold for *250,000.00 cash. A half interest in another 2»/2 acres owned by Fred Clark of Oklahoma City sold for *700,000.00 cash plus a half inter est in the well to be drilled on the tract. The leases on this land could have been pur chased a short time ago for less than *10 per acre. Twenty men down at Haynesville, Louisi ana, just across the Arkansas-Louisiana state lines, near .Junction City field, were made mil lionaires in one day when the Smitherman well came booming along with a few thousand bar rels of oil per day. These men owned cheap least's prior to production. GET THIS Big fortunes in oil are made from oil leases purchased prior to production. Oil sjieculators who have not learned this fact from observation or experience have missed the fundamental les son of the oil age. Your location does not lessen your chances for profits, nor do you have to live in Texas or go there, it don’t matter if you lived at the North Pole and your least' located in the swamps of Panama, when oil is struck near your lease, you receive just as much as though you were living on or near your lease. I am captain of this fortune-making ship and if you let me be your pilot I will land you on some valuable ground, just as I have done hundreds of people in the State of Washington and many other States. Buy Crockett County Oil Leases and you are right in line for the 1924 crop of millionaires. The writer sells Crockett County Oil leases, but it don’t matter whether you buy from me or who you buy from, make it your business to get in there. The results which will follow in a short time will be most gratifying. I make this statement with no regard for the danger of say ing too much. FRENZIED TRADE IN LEASES Already the following towns in Crockett County district: Big Lake, El Dorado, Brad ford, kook Spring, Benkin, Stilles, Oxone, and Ft. Stockton are full of oil scouts, lease specula tors, drilling contractors and field workers, the herd that gathers overnight wherever the ru mor of oil originates. Many of these men, old and seasoned campaigners in search of oil and gas, admit that the biggest oil operations ever seen in the entire history are now sharpened up right in Crockett County, Texas. Speculators at a distance who invested small sums in leases along the Marathon Fold in the early stages have since visited the field and found wells drilling right adjoining their lease and value has been boosted in consequence to anywhere from ten to one hundred times the original price. You have read of the quick fortunes made in the oil business, you are eager for the touch of thrill which success brings. The only way to be a man or woman of reality is to be a man or woman of action. THE MARLAND OIL COMPANY, KNOWN CHIEFLY FOR ITS OPERATIONS IN OKLAHOMA, WHICH INCLUDED DRILLING ON SOME OF THE RICHEST OF THE OSAGE INDIAN ACREAGE, HAS STEPPED ASIDE FROM THIS ADMIT TED MILLION DOLLAR POOL AND PURCHASED MORE THAN TEN THOUS AND ACRES IN SHEFFIELD TERRACE ALONG THE MARATHON FOLD. THIS GIGANTIC COMPANY, ENTERING INTO THE FIELD HAS INCREASED OUR LEASES NEARLY A HUNDRED PER CENT. A desire means nothing without action. Actions mean nothing without a foundation. There is no one making money in oil but people who are dealing in it. If you are desir ous of making money in this gigantic business, you have first got to get into it. When you pass up such opportunities as I am offering with the hopes of tomorrow’ bring ing a better one, you are allowing your hopeful ness to run away with your judgment. A timid man or woman never accomplishes anything worth while. The man of aetion is the man of the hour. I know’ thin-blooded men who have gone out on top of mountains of w’ealth and returned to camp single handed, while men of action, full of red blood and iron, in the deepest gutters of poverty and despair, made valuable gems from worthless pebbles. Who is the man who succeedsf The man who thinks clearly and plans w’iselv, executes promptly with untrained energy. You are getting the facts wholesale at re tail prices. Of course, I realize many men do not want facts, and it is as difficult to convince them of their error as it is to convince a cat it is wrong to lick mice.’ Come into this office and learn how to judge when an oil s|)eculation is justified. I am an oil man, no pretender, no shadow, no passing fad; don’t take my sign down for anybody and will pitch camp anywhere. Full of red blood and iron, accuracy, ambition, cour tesy, loyalty, discretion, integrity, stamina, promptitude, truthfulness, built from the ground up. Oil land leases is my specialty, not stocks or units hut am thoroughly versed on both issues. This statement can best be verified by those who have heretofore dealt with me. Examining into the merits of oil invest ments is the greater part of my business. I first satisfy myself that the district I of fer leases in has every thing out of which to build success. I am familiar with the activities of every oil district in the South and know’ the paying pos sibilities of every investment offered therein; have personal knowledge of the exceptional op- portunitis for quick riches from a small invest ment in Crockett County leases with unlimited jiossibilities for a large return. This is my rea son for urging you to buy. If what I have said fails to express to you the sincerity and esteem which I retain for your success, and only can he looked upon as incon siderate, stop right here. If you are open to a reasonable conviction and are willing to indulge in the chance that must be taken in all ordinary business transactions, read on. LEARN THE TRUTH HOW TO WIN SUCCESS IN OIL AND AVOID FAILURES Failure is a word approved only by the ig norant and lazy. Such persons are not likeiv to be interested in this wonderful oil land of fering. Thousands of persons fail to succeed in life simply because they remain in ignorance of the - rielies with which nature has endowed. The key to fortune is foresight, coupled with action and harmonius working with opportunities. I know’ what 95 per cent of public senti-' ment is toward the oil business, but I don’t care anything about the skeptics. Ignorance and skepticism only apply their forces freely to any cause which means a hindrance to progress. Whatever the ignorant is for, I am against and whatever he is against, I am for. I am a promotor and am recognized among understanding men as a promoter. Every pro gressive move made since the time Moses went out into the world to seek better ground for his people, the promoter is due credit. Every luxury and necessity which smiles public approval are the result of a promoter’s energy. A promoter works for private good and pub lic gain; were it not for promoters, success • w’ould have difficulty in finding its way through the channels of fear and doubt. Right fear is constructive, while wrong fear is destructive. I have no backbone like a jelly-fish, but like pig iron. Give me a lever long enough and a prop strong enough, I believe that I can, single- handed, move the world. A thought, no doubt occurred to you, has the writer made money from oil. Yes. Just what you can do, if you will only open your' eyes and take a fling at fortune. But in order to make money in oil, you have first got to get into the right place with the right people; just what I’m urging you to do now. I am offering a lease on 640 acres right in the heart of the greatest oil drilling campaign ever assembled in the South. *10 per acre is all it will cost, if you act quick. If you are not ac quainted with the wonders of a new oil field, naturally it will be hard to grasp the full signif icance of the location of this lease and the un limited returns w’hich are sure to follow upon the completion of a near-by gusher well. If time permitted, before all this acreage is sold, I would refer you to the Texas Oil Ledger, published at Ft. Worth, Texas, for a full report on this area. The receipt of this, I am sure, would imme diately be followed hv your subscription for 20 acres or more. I have lived throughout the booming days of a good many oil fields of the South and have never seen any new district equal the possibili ties of Crockett County. I know I am justified in recommending this field to you, indications are there will be no half way measures in Crockett County. This last chapter of the wonderful nistory of oil operation is going to be played out in a big way. Either Crockett County is going to fail ut terly or succeed magnificently. Geologists and practical oil men say it cannot fail. In support of this statement it is reliably reported there are already several producing wells, one of which is 2400 barrels, and 15 or 20 more on the sands ready to be brought in just as soon as pipe line facilities are able to handle produc tion. < It does not take the seventh daughter of the- seventh daughter or a son of a prophet of old, a second sighter or an Ouiga board or even a common old every day dopiat to see the future of Crockett County. The companies now operating in Crockett County district are the same companies who since 1917 placed the following gigantic oil fields on the map: Burkburnett, Breckenridge, Desdemona, Goose Creek, Orange, Ranger, Mineral Wells, Mexia, Barber’s Hill, Gross beck, Humble, Sauer Lake, Saratoga, Luling, Guadalupe, Elective, Petroleum, Wichita, Bull Bayou, Haynesville, Junction City, Homer, El dorado, Smackover, Powell Pool and many oth- era too numerous to mention. You buy the lease and leave its maturing fu ture up to me. I am not afraid of placing my future dealings in jeopardy. Surely the honored title of my being your sponsor in this gigantic business is in no way questionable. I am young in my profession, possess ample energy, enjoy a reputation be yond reproach and my desire for your success is deep and abiding. Such as will endure through life, gaining strength each hour, from youth’s crimson flush of dawn to the gathering twilight of old age. Come, my people, and join me in this issue. I’ll assure you that you will never have just cause to grieve. You surely could not be so unfair as to brand any of your unprofitable dealings to any loquacity on my part. I am a stranger in your city, it is true, but if you are acquainted with strict business ethics, then you are acquainted with me. Ninety-five per cent of my previous dealings have been with organized executors, lawyers, commanders and reformers, preachers, orators, geniuses, statesmen, presidents of cor porations, world rulers and professional men from every w alk of life. If you really value a Race man’s regards for his people’s success, I am asking you to dismiss all distrust of my sincerity from your minds and trust that you will place implicit confi dence in what I am saying. It is fear which is controlling your thoughts and holding you bound, a hopeless captive in its iron-clad grasp. Decide at once, my friends, summon all the force of your will and with one great titanic ef fort, fling the monster of fear from you and crush it beneath your heels as you would a veno mous reptile eagering for your destruction. Step out from the mass who hesitate and lose, take your place among the few who dare and win. You will have to hurry. This offer holds good for a short time only. People of the opposite race have already spoken for the entire section. Call, phone or write— J. A MERCER 419-421 Abington Bldg. Portland, Ore. Office Atty. E. J. Minor Phone Brdwy *213
