For we are told that certain halls can be secured by tnem only through petition of prom I neni white people. This Is disgrace ful and still more so when we realise that we pav money to those kind of people ever so often. Think of torc Ing people to take your money, h's a shame colored people, and we feel more ashamed of our men who stand by and allow these things to go on. We have some men with fore- sight who have made preparation for you. which is much better than forc ing some white man to take your money. Why not patronise these men until you get something all your own? Their place may not be as i large, may not be as fine, but they at least get a part of the money you pay out, which is more desirable than petitioning others to take it The time has come that we must wake up. We would rather give an entertainment in our back kitchen porch than beg some of these dance hall proprietors to take our money! Think of it It is disgraceful to say the least. Mayor George L. Baker.
