SOCIALISM . AN IN E V IT A B L E
11, WON.
A N D GROW ING POW ER.
* I THERE are 1,000 Socialists in Crook county, and 5,000 in th<
central portion o f Oregon; there are 25.000 Socialists in Ore
gon, and, to put it mildly, 1,000,000 in the United States. They
are multiplying daily, as the world reads and learns.
Although politically in the minority as yet, the Socialists are :
growing power. Almost unknown; aye, despised; 10 or 15 year
ago. in the past 5 years they have made their influence felt in ev
cry nook and comer o f this great nation. Five years hence, unles
conditions improve—and they cannot under the present form o
government—the Socialists will be a dominant factor in the jxflit-
ical economy o f America. No one can ignore this fact, pressing
persistently, shall one say relentlessly, to the top. A t anyratc, tin
tenets o f Socialism are worth investigating.
To facilitate this er.d, and to give the Socialists o f this part o
the country an official organ and press champion through which t<
vent their thought and action, J' hn Alden Sea’oury. editf r of th
Laidlaw fOregon) Chronicle, will commence the pu! ! <ati<n oi
August 1 of the I n t e r - M o u n t a i n S o c i a l i s t , the subscription pric
o f which will !>e (fo r a short time) 50 cents a year. $2.00 for fiv<
years, or 3 cents the copy. It will be published monthly at first
and weekly as soon as the business warrants it. Socialists .ire \ r
patriotic, both to the nation, each other and their press; hence, th
I n t e r - M o u n t a i n S o c i a l i s t assuredly w i l l be published weekly
and s o o n !
To insure its success from the start, and its entry as secom
class mail matter, let e v e r y Socialist who reads these lines tak
i m m e d i a t e action as follows.—
1. Subscribe yourself, for one year or five years!
2. Get a l l your friends and e v e r y Socialist you know to d
likewise.
3. Send the editor the names and ad Iresses of persons ir. am
part o f the 415 States whom you know to be interested in Socialise
