THE QUALITY STORE NEW PINE CREEK DEPARTMENT DEVOTED TO LIVE NEWS NOTES OF THE STATE LINE TOWN SPECIAL CORRESPONDENCE TOURNAMENT WAS FINANCIAL LOSS The Base Ball Tournament which was held at Fairoort and New fine Creek September 13, 14, and 15, by M. L. Kerr of Altura. was not a suc cess financially;. Mr. Kerr claima that he lost aboot 9150. The main da was Sunday at Fair port. The Altaras band was present and good crowds from Lakeview and Altaras. Saurday night a dance was given at the Fairport Inn, the Altaras orchestra farnisbing the music, mere i was a large crowd present and all present reported a fine time: It is about time that New Fine Greek citizens awake to the fact tbat it doei not pay to allow an outside in dividual to give a Ball Tournament in the name of the town. Last Summer an individual handled the ball games and we heard of all kinds of complaints about New Fine Creek not doing wbat ahe agreed. This last tournament Mr. Kerr fell abort and could not pay the boys all tbat was due them. He gave them his note and no doubt experts to make good. Such a condition leaves a tad impression on Fairport and New Fine Creek, as the boys thought that it was the two towns that gave the tournament. The citizens of New Pine Creek who subscribed money all paid every cent that they pledged, and no ooubt Fair port did likewise. We all felt that it was too early to bold this tourna ment and warned Mr. Kerr to postpone it a few weeks, as everybody was busv and could not get all oar ball team together. However, he insisted on the dates first set. We had one good day which was Sunday at Fairport. The people all bad the time of their livea at the ball game between Alturaa and Lakeview.
