Jack Burke and Pat Larkin, who
have been canvassing among the Irish
resident of the county for the pur
pose of securing sufficient money to
pay off the debt on the Iocs! Catholic
church, Thursday,, returned to town.
In starting out sonn weeks ago they
first journeyed to the range of moun
tains west of Goose Lake Valley, vis
iting all the sheep camp they came
to. Later they left for Paisley pas
sing through the Chewaucan and
Spragoe Klver valley thence through
the Sycan country as fsr north as
Yarrixey Mountain. On the return
trip they came via Crooked and Mud
Creeks They have (enured about ? 1200
and what Is best of all they state that
but two or three refused to donate,
and thfy because of lack of money.
After a few days rest they expect to
continue their travel, and are conn
dent that the sum on hand will be
materially added to by the time they
have completed so far as possible the
woik undertaken. Foth are good
hustlers, good mixers, and it is doubt
ful if two better men could have been
secured. The wora is being done on
the initiative of the Ancient Order
of Hibernians.
