The final results were as follows : N. Y. Irish-American Athletic Club 44 points, Chicago Athletic Association 27 points. Boston Athletic Association 21 points. N. Y. Athletie Club'-18 points. Illinois Athletic Club 13 points. Missouri Athletic Club 11 points. Springfield High School 10 points. University of California, 8 points. S. B. Waggoner, a Yale athlete, eclipsed the old record in the pole vault by clearing the bar at 13 feet. The former record waa held by E. T. Cook, of Cleveland, whose record was lit feet 6 inches. In the running hop, step and Jump, Dan Ahearn. champion of Ireland, nnder the colors of the Chicago Ath letic Association, broke the world'e re cord by jumping 60 feet. The old re cord was 48 feet 6 inches, made by K. Bloea in 1893. Tim Ahearn, brother to Uan, made 48 feet 7 inches, he being entered by the Irish-American Athletic Club. II. Fahey, another of those en tered by the last-mentioned club, took third prize. faddy Kyan, another Irish-American Athletic Clubestree. broke tbe world's record in tbe hammer throw by making a throw of 177 feet 7 3-4 incnes. The old record was 177 feet 6 1-2 inches, made by Con Walsh in New York in 1911. M. UcGrstb, of the Illinois Ath letic Club, wss awarded second prize, his throw being 171 feet 2 1-2 inches. In the 880 ysrd run the defeat of Melvin W. SheDpard, tbe Irish-American athlete, came as a surprise. Bas er, of the New York Athletic Club took first prize : his tesm mate, De Lrnchy, received second prize. Sheppard csme in third. Sheppsrd's defest is creoit ed to his laying baok too long at the beginning of tne sprint and allowing tbe other two prise winners to get a lead which he could not overcome. The winner's time wss minutes, one fifth second. In the 16 pound shot-put, the Irish American entree, Pat MeDonald, also nad a bad day, McDonald Is the Olympie champion. Whitney, of the Boston Athletic Association, shoved tbe shot 46 feet 2 5-8 inches, while the best McDonsld could di wss 45 feet 11.1-3 Inches. In the d6 pound itsmmer throw, the Irian-American Club had everything tbeir own way. McGratb. the Olympie champion, took first prise with a throw of 38 feet 6 1-2 inches : McDonald sec ond with a throw of 87 feet 10 inches; Ryan third with 37 feet 8 1-4 inches, E. Miller, of the Irish-American Club, took first prise In the discus throw with a throw of 132 feet 7 1-8 inches. Again in the laveltn throw, the Irish showed their power when B. Brood msde a heave of 161 feet 8 inches, thereby securing first prlie. His team mate took third with a throw of 147 feet 8 inches. The individual point winners of the Irish-American Athletic Club were as follows : A. Kivtat, 1 ; P. McDonald, 6: M. Sheppard, 1; A. T. Meyers, 1; J. M. Koeenbetger, 1: R. B. Brood, 6: K. Land, 1; H. Konlemanler, 6; M. Fahey, 1 : Paddy Ryan, 6: M. McGratb, 8; E. Miller 5. Along with my letter I am sending a program of tbe various events. By next year he expects to have much of tbe preliminary maneuvering out of tbe way and many counties will be en- gaged in building permanent highways.
