Bend Bulletin: The first wool of the season Is expected to arrive at the United Warehouse this afternoon. About 400,000 pounds is expected, all of which comes from Sliver Lake. Manager Pringle says he believes that about 1,000,000 pounds of wool will be handled there bis year. County School Superintendent C. E. Oliver next Sunday will leave for Salem to meet with the Board of Ex aminers for state certificates. He ill also attend the Superintendents' Association which will be held in Port land to re vibe the courses of studies for schools. He expects to.be absent about two weeks. According to a late Washington dis patch TWill G. Steel of Portland has been appointed by the Secretary of the Interior to the Superintended of the Crater LHke National Park. This means thut W. F. Mr. Gray will use the csr to transport pas sengera between Paisley and Bend. Mrs. William Goss, of Bonanza, died at that place last Friday morning. She was 69 yeara old and bad been a resident of Bonanza about 17 yeara. Paralysis was tbe cause of her death. Turner and James Wylie re turned from a trip to various portions of the State last week. They report a pleasant trip and state that in the San Joaquin valley every thing is about dried up. but that in other portions of the State tbe crops look fairly good, says the Cedarville Record. R. A. Clark and family the first of the week returned to Lakeview after spending the Winter at their home in Nebraska. They have leased the V. L. spelling residence and will remain indefinitely. Mr. Clark and A. J. Ouslcy are In the cement and con crete business which they will be en gaged in here this Summer. The Examiner is in receipt of a postal announcing the birth of a baby girl on May 21, to Mr. and Mrs. Geo. E. Morrill, at their borne 1623-4th Ave., Oakland, Calif. The little daughter weighed 8 and one-fourth poll n is and her name is Ruth Helen. Mr. and Mrs. Morrill are former res idents of Lakeview, he at one time being editor of (he Lakeview Herald. At a recent meeting of the Silver Lake Commercial Club the following officers were elected: Pres., A. N. McCall: vice-president, P. D. Reeder: secretary, G. W. Marvin: treasurer, Jas. Martin. Lynn Cronemiller wno Saturday re turned from the O.A.C. at Corvallis, where be is taking a course in For estry, Tuesday went out to the Fremont rangers camp at Thomas Creek where he will be stationed all Summer. He was appointed as one ot the instructors in forestry at the college the coming year, the compensation of which posi tion will pay his expenses during the re maining term. The United States Supreme Court hss affirmed the decision of the New Jersey courts in dismissing the appli cation of Porter Charlton, who killed hia wife, for a writ of habeas corpus to prevent bis extradition to Italy, where the crime was committed, to stand trial. The decision came three years to a dsy after the body of Mrs. Charlton was found in a trunk in Lake Como, Italy.
