O. U. Plumrner, secretary and treas
urer cf Portland L'nion StocK Yards,
nho is a Portland Relegate to the Lea
gue Convention, was a welcome visitor
of the Examiner's yesterday. It was
a great eurorife to Mr. Plumrner to see
the vast ucreage of land that he saw
lying idle on his trip to Lakeview.
He stated that he saw much territory
that is favorably adaptedto hogjraising
and says there ia no excuee for our
meat markets having to stock up with
Swift's hams and bacons, instead of
that produced in Lake County.
Mr. Plummer is also an active pro
moter in the Eugenics Exposition to
be held at the Salem State fair. This
is really a scientific baby show and
physical perfection will derterrnine the
winners. While here he is endeavoring
to get some children to en'er the contest.
C. L. Withers is down from Summer
