A very well attended meeting of the
Catholie Ladles' Altar. Society was
held last Thursday afternoon at the
home of Mra. Michael M. Brry. Re
freshments were served after the ne
cessary business details bad been at
tended to.
Mr. Bradley, of the Bradley Engi
neering Co., of New Pine Creek, waa
a business visitor in the oity last week.
Mr. Bradley is a mining and civil en
gineer formerly of San Franciaco, and
has recently established an office in
New Pine Creek.
Franklin Cloud, son ot Mr. and Mrs.
B. F. Cloud, last week returned to
Lakeview for a few weeks visit with
bis parents. For the past thirteen
months he has been employed at bis
trade as mechanio and mechanical de
signer in Stockton, Cal.
Klamath Herald: J. F. Kimball last
week received one of the finest canoes
ever brought Into Klamath county.
Tbe canoe was secured through the
Baldwin Hardware company, and was
built to Mr. Kimball's order by the
Stephenson conoern in Norway, Maine.
It la 17 feet long, and, being of can
vass, is extremely light, but will carry
seven passengers comfortably.

church. It ia expected that they will
be heard bv many people during their
stay.
Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Boyd and chil
dren left Wednesday for Portland,
where they expect to make their fu
ture home. During their residence
here they made a host of friends, all
of whom will be sorry to hear of their
departure.
John Murphy, a sheepbereder, waa
discharged from the local hospital sev
eral days ago after suffering from a
aevere attack of rheumatism. He is
now feeling considerably better, al
though unable as yet to make full use
of hia limbs and arms.

Tbe mining boom locally received an
added impetus on tbe return from High
Grade of laat Sunday's excursionists.

Mrs. Lewis Wylde and children ar
rived from Prineville the forepart of tbe
week to join Mr. Wylde, wbo recently
arrived bere to act as local agent for
tbe Oregon Life Insurance Company.
O. L. Wood, local agent of the Wella
Fargo Ex Dress Co., this week bought
tbe Dr. Boyd bouse on Main atreet.
The bouse was sold furnished and Mr.
Wood and fsmily will occupy it im
mediately. Several couples attended the social
dance at Snider'a opera house Saturday
night. Tbe music was furnished by
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Volk, Chas. Wal
lace and Mr. Crutcben. It waa one ot

Cbsrles H. Flory, of the District
Forest office in Portland, Sunday
morning, left for Paisley enrouta north
after having spent several days at tbe
local Fremont Forest office. Mr.

Mr. Wakefield, aon of T. B. Wake
field of Warner Lake waa a visitor in
tne city tbia week, having made the
trip over in bis new five passenger
Hupmobile. The car ia a 1913 model
and waa the first of ita kind ever in
Lakeview.
Ex-Mayor Fred T. Sanderson, of
Klsmatb Falls, died in Ashland June
30, of appendicitis. His death was very
sudden. For the paat eight years Mr.
Sanderson bad been prominent in the
upbuildine of Klamath Falla and hia
death will be a shock to that city.
Agent Claas reports a heavy load tt
passengers out on yesterday morning a
train. Several going oat to attend
Fourth of July celebrations and a

ed through this country with a show
troupe met with a serious accident at
Calouss, Cal., laBt week when be at
tempted to desoend from a baloon in
a parachute. He cut the parachute
when but thirty feet in the air and
came down in a heap. Ha austained
several broken bonea and waa render
ed unconscious.
