At the present time these conditions are known to exist for dis tance of about three mllea along thia north and south sheared tone or dis turbed area and constitute tha recog nised mineral belt of the High Grade mining district. Other placea near at hand, such as Cottonwood, Willow Rsnch, and Gold Manin, show favorable evidence of mineralisation and may yet come to the front and largely extend the profitable mining area, but up to the present time only the High Grade belt proper bas produced high grade orea in considerable quantities. It must be admitted that the diatrict Is atill emphatically In the prospecting taga. What haa been acoomplmbed In tha way of development the Modoo and one or two others are notable ex ceptions bas been done In crude, desultory and unsatisfactory manner, but I tbink that no miner who bas worked in other notable American gold mining camps csn go over the ground ana escape the conviction that here will be opened, not one or two, but a number of good mines. He will find abun dant timber fir all purposes and plenty of water also. He will see rock In a dozen different places in the district that will gladden hia heart, with suffi cient of the glittering yellow metsl scattered through it to make hla mouth and eye water. He will see small veina of very rich ore, medium sized veina of medium grade ore and larger bodiea of low grade. He will see veins with two smooth walla and with fire clay gouge or aelvidge, veina with only one wall and others "frozen" to both sides. He will notice, if he is obser vant, evidence of scoriatlon on some walls and this will remind him of move ment and the characteristic of some big mines he haa seen in some big camps. He will also notice in the numeroua rock slides he will encounter in travel ing over the district large and frequent bodies and streaks of brecciated ma terial and thia will inform him that al moat Inconceivable shearing and grind ing and subsequent cementing haa taken place In the district and this will incline him to a beMef in the pro babilities of the existence of large hidden bodies of ore. He may also notice that the ground is tighter at the northern end of the diatrict and grad ually becomes more open as he ad vances southward and thia may lead him to expect that, in the future de velopment ef the camp, the larger minea may be found there. All these matters will naturally create a favorable Impression of the district and be will begin to consider the advisability of becoming Intorewted.
