Illinoise and Missouri ami the chilly weather that the ix-oole have been havintr along the coast country, makes one feel that this is not such a bad old country for weather after all. Next winter when some of the "Knockers" feel cold and then so and if lance and see that the thermometer is about tero. they should Dick uo the Eastern I'aners ard feel warm in comparison. There are places that are warmer than here but they dont have thedeliehtfullv cold niahts to off set ! either: there are places that are colder than here and thev also have davs in Summer that are a trial and a sorrow to the people that live there. Campbell, who is well known here, and is now soendine the winter in Texas after returning J from a six months' sojojrn in England. Mrs. Campbell stated that on the nir.th of November the temperature in Dallas was SO dt tress in the shade at 6:2-" p. m. and in one hour it had fallen to 30 deif rees. Colonel Daniel Boone was a visitor in Lakeview last week and aavs that things are moving as well as can be expected in New Pine Creek. The Colonel is one of the men that it takes a lot more than a fire and the loss ot five thousand dollars to keep down. The Ladies Aid Society arc planning for a tine entertainment to be given in the near future. Mrs. Amsden is still con lined to her bed with pneumonia. Her daughter Miss Charlton who is attending high school in Lakeview spent the week end at-home. The Ladies Aid Society have been very busy this week, two special meetings having been called at which thev tied five comforts. The railroad is fast nearing New Pine Creek. The surveyors will returt this week to survey the ground for the depot and varda. Mavtield Boone, who has been con fined to his home for some time with inftamatorv rheumatism is improving very fast. I Mr. and Mr. Fine, of Madras, arriv ! ed in New Pine Creek last week to i spend the winter. Mr. Fine has ac cepted a luwilion as blacksmith for Mr. Mulkev. ! The South End heed Barn has been receiving some new improvements. Mrs. Wise is cooking at the Blurton House. Dr. Patterson was called to Davis Creek Saturday night to attend a voung man. who had the misfortune to be badlv injured in a runaway, his collar bone was broken nd he also received a severe cut on the hand. Mr." Butler, our popular butcher, expects to begin his new Meat Market this week. J. A. Ewing is still having a serious time with his hand. Our New Opera House is almost complete.
