THE BATTLE ON
. CAMAS PRAIRIE
One of the greatest battles ever
foueht in Lak' County, took olace a
short time ago when Madame
Druselia McDonald, of the famous
Balmoral Summer Resort, on Camas
Prairie, fought and vanquished the
Celebrated Knight of the Garter,
Senor Francisco Santiago De La Barra.
a recent arrival from El Mexico. To
lend eclat to the affair they enlisted
the services as umoire. of that Royal
Personage, the Honorable Jonathan
Buchkineham Brookes; a direct des
cendant of the Great Lord Bucking-
I ham. who became famous over a re
! mark that he once made at a crucial
moment when opoosed by his enemies,
! uttering the words. "My horse my
horse. a Kingdom for a horse. The
affair started over the ringing of a
famous SoaniHh Ballad, by the titled
Mexican, entitled, "The Camrjbells
are coming" which aroused the ire of
the lady in question. Feeling hichly in
dignant over what she termed an in
sult, she promptly challenged El
Senor to a duel, and believing himself
a match for the lady, acceded and
the conflict waged as follows :
"This arm of mine shall your whole
frame confound ;
I'll mash your bones and all your
body Dound.
Dastard Celt, would'et thou dare
this arm to face?
You spurious offspring of a stolen
embrace.
With props upraised the argives
fiercely closed :
Their crackling jaws re-echoing to
the blows ;
At length Druselia deals a stunning
blow
Upon the Irish mug of her unwary
foe :
Beneath the ponderous arms resist
less sway
Down drooped he. nerveless and
extended lay.
Like gome small beef when butcher
wields his axe.
By its vast force the hughust frame
relaxed.
He wreathes and squirms upon the
blood stained floor.
From his mouth and nostrils pours
the purple gore.
At this point in the proceedings, the
descendant of the scrappy Duke, spake
forth in thunderous tones, saying,
"Hold ! base violin player that thou art.
! the hour is late and we must fade !
1 away ere day breaks upon yonder
'corpse." So Jonathan and Druselia!
vanished arm in arm. into the shadows
that swiftly flitted over the gory
scene. Selah.

IS IT ANYBODY'S
BUSINESS AFFAIR?
is it anybody's business.
If a genteman should choose
To wait upon a lady
If the lady don't refuse?
Or. to SDeak a little plainer.
That the meaning all may know.
Is it anybody's business
If a lady has a beau?
Js it anybody's business.
When a gentleman doth call.
Or when he leaves the lady.
Or if he leaves at all?
Or is it necessary
That the curtain should be drawn.
To save from further trouble
The outside lookers on?
Is it anybody's business.
But the lady's, if her beau
Rideth out with other laiies.
And dosen't let her know?
Is it anybody's business.
