ALASKANS DUMP COAL INTO SEA A mob of .'1(H) men, emulating revolu tionary hertiea who formed the "I ton ton tea party" In 177.1. went on the dock of the Alaska Steamship company at Cor dova, Alaska, today and liegan dump ing Into the sea .1(H) tons of Canadian coal stored there. They were still at work at last resirts. The coal Is val ued at fi'SHH) and part ef the stock kept on hand by the Alaska Steamship company and the (pht Kivrr and Northwestern ftailway Company, News of the "coal party" was re ceived here tonight by the Alaska Steamship company in a rablegram from U. J. Harry, general agent for the company at Cordova. The message says : "Feeling here Intense over coal matters. Mob of 300 men now on the dock dumping Nanaimo coal Into the bay. Authorities here powerless. Mayor calling on governor for help. No feeling; against company. It Is all against the government account report that no action should le taken on coal land cases." J. 11. Young, president of the Alaska Steamship company, salil tonight that ho had4Uen advised that the people of Cordova had threatened Uiia action for some time. The 'mayor and local offici als of the line have done everything possible to dissuade them from taking; any rash action, he said. In addition to the coal stored on the dis-k at Cor dova, the Copper Itiver and Northwest ern railway has large imanities stored at other Hinta and .unless the rioting spreads there will Iss no interference with the o's-rstlon of the railroad.
