Effort to Have Now Law
Go Into Effect Immediately
SALK.M. March 7. -Petition for
the enactment of the state printer's
flat sslary Imjv passed by the legisla
ture at its late session to make the
tw operative immediatelr Urn lead
of after January 1. U)ir. will be
alerted simultaueouuly lu dltlerent
parti of the state within a few weeks.
Copies of the proposed amendmeut
are now being prepared and will be
ready for distribution within a short
time. The amendment to ttie Hat
salary enactnieut will be simple. It
will merely leplace that sectjon ot
tbe act which provides that the flat
salary shall not go into elfect until
January 1, l'.M5, with another see
tion providing that the state printer
shall go ou a flit salary at once.
Tbe act can, of course, not be vot
ed upon by the perplt until Novem
ber, 1912, aud cannot go into elfect
until a vote ot tba measure is can
vassed atfer tbe general election in
November. Ibose behind tbe move

the printer on a flat salary for four
years and that little diftlc.ulty will
