Indian anowsboe completed and one
about halt tloishd. Leading from
the tepee was a narrow path paved
with Btones and covered witb aage
brush bark, to a well barricaded spot,
practically a fort, from which obser
vations could be taken of all parts of
the surrounding country, aud it is
said tbtit a few men could have held
a large body of u en at bay for an
itidetluite leugtb of time. It Is from
tbid place, it la presumed, that' tbe
ill-fated party were killed, and then
dragged down the mountain side aud
piled iu the oreek. Seven horsos
were found dead, presumably starved
to death. Tbe overcoats, watches
aud much of the other garments of
the dead tiieu were missing and it ia
presumed that the Indiana took them
away ; even tbe Blockings of most of
the dead men had teen removed.
Tbe Indiana supposed to be impli
cated in the murder are renegades
from tbe Idaho reservation and were
seen near that part of tbe country by
vaqueroa during tbe months of
November. The baBd theu consisted
of six men, three aquawa and a
couple of papooses, and it ia thought
that others might have joined them.
Sheriff Smitb, of this county, Sher
iff FernU, of Wasuoe County, Gapt.
J. P. Uonuelly, and three ot tbe
Nevada State Polioe and lien Cam
broo, with tbe following looal men:
Chas. Demtok, Ed. Uogel, Henry
Hughes, W111. Carson, Ueo. Reader,
Jack Ferguson. Bid Street, Fred Kill,
Warrea Fruit, Jim Baty, Uilbert
Jackson and Mart West started oat
last Thursday on tbe murderera trail,
