People All Pleased With Conservation Movement. s a CI By THOMAS H. SUIPH. Secretary of IE PEOPLE OF THE COUNTRY ARE FOR THE CONSERVA TION MOVEMENT AND APPLICATION OF CONSERVATION PRINCIPLES BY THE STATES AND THE NATIONAL GOVERNMENT. As a general principle conservation lias been practically UNAN IMOUSLY INDOUSKl), but universal indorsement without the practical application of conservation principles is dangerous to the success of the movement. l'KAC T1CAL APPLICATION MUST NOW BE TIIK KEYNOTE. Of course there are powerful interests which, for obvious reasons, will bo opposed to such practi cal application, but these interests do not represent the SENTIMENT OF THE PEOPLE. I have visited certain western Btates in which opposition to conservation has been loudly expressed through cer tain controlled mediums, yet I have found that in theso very states, if the issue could bo left to a pop ular vote, conservation policies WOULD WIN BY AN OVER WHELMING MAJORITY.
