HINTS TO EXHIBITORS Samples of grain should be taken when the grain is fully ripe, but nut dry enough to shell. The entire stool should be pulled from the ground aud the roots thoroughly cleaned, then bound in bundles of about 4 inches in diameter, wrapped iu paper and kept in a dry, dark place until time to forward. Samples of grassea and forage p'ants should be taken in the same manner, at the time when ready to hay, cured in the daik, then bound in bundles of 'about four inches, wrapped in paper, aud kept in a dry. dark place until time to ship, thus preserving color. Potontes, beets carrots, etc., should be carefully dug from the ground al lowed to dry aud the dirt carefully remove'). Cure should m taken not to cut or bruise the specimens, and samples will show better and keep better if no water is used in cleaning.
