I LAND OFFICE DOES A BIG BUSINESS The Hoag Mines, on the State Line 15 mile sooth of here, and situated boat two miles from New Pine Creek are beginning to attract outside interest as the following wire indi cates : RENO (Nev)., April 21. As the result of a report of a bis gold strike in Northern Nerada, close to the Oreeon line, quite a number of min ing men have already left for the northern fields. Yesterday Hurt Rush and Ed ward Asbton. who have taken part in nearly all gold stampedes in this state, were among the men rush ing to the new finds. The Examiner inte epainspecting the mines as soon as the suow dis appears on the moumntain where they aie situated. The properties being wonted are ' the Sunshine, Bonanza. Mountain View, Mont Vida and Sugar Fine groups. I The Sunshine and Buoanza are worked by Sbauers, Laugbiio and Bassler; Two men on each claim. The Mountain View, nuder Dick Mason, has emp'oyed seven men all winter and tb showing is something marvelous. The Sugar Pine has had two men at work all winter, and is showing good ore. a stamp mill for the Mouutain View baa been ordered and will be rushed to completion with all dis patch, and it is expected this proper ty will makn a record equal to some of the Nevada mines. The land officials report more home stead and desert tilings this month than at anytime previous in th history of the office. The Happy Hooligans were splen didly entertained last Thursday eve ning by Miss Louise Storktuaon. Sballhammer was in Tuesday from Crooked creek. sheepmen generally ate losing a lot of sheep this spring in driving tbm from the desert. Dave E Her in this way is reported to have lost GO head. Tucker 100 head, Newell 34, llolbrook 31), Noriu 12, and others have lost more or less. Mr. Shellbammer says he has lost none, and attributes the fact to giving his sheep plenty of salt before driving from their winter range. He says that all who salt their sheep plentifully escape lees from their eating poisonous weeds. The administering of ea-t seems to be h sure antidote against loss and be believes the met tod will be followed by all sheep men in the future. PR0UDF00T SAYS SHEEP DISEASED W. J. Proudfoot U. S. reports that the flocks good condition as he expected to Hod them, there being considerable sscah, while many have died from eating poisonous weeds.
