Ed. Lake, who has a homestead in
Bly country, spent several days In
Lakeview last week, returning to
bis home Tuesday. Mr. Lake has
lust some surplus "tat" since "going
on tbe faim."
This Is a land of rain as well as of
sunshine two necessary adjuncts
to well filled purses. A quarter of an
inch of rain tell Sunday evening. Moie
Monday, and it looks as though tbe
end is not yet.
G. F. Arthur, of West Side, was in
town Monday making final proof on
a timber entry. He was accompanied
by B. McCreary, one of the formei's
witnesses. We were pleased to meet
both gentlemen.
Pete Enqulst. tbe sheepman, re
turned to Lakeview last Friday from
Santa Rosa, Calif., where he spent
tbe winter. Mr. Enquist says times
are pretty dull iu California and theie
are many men out of work.
Tbe new public library building is
rapidly assuming shape, aud will be
handsome addition to the town. It
will serve a most worthy purpose,
and speaks well for tbe intellectuality
ot tbe people of Lakeview.
Mr. J. N. Jaqiusb, the cabinet
maker, last week finished up a lot of
picture frames, which are about as
ueat as any we have ever seen. Mr.
Jaquish makes frames for sale, aud
does repa r woik of all kinds.
S. F. Ahlstrom reports shipment of
several saddles this week to Nevada
aud California points. He has a large
and growing trade in saddles extend
ing all over the West a distinction
for Lakeview workmanship, aud
profitable to himself.
Chas. E. Rice Director of tbe
Lakeview Citizens Bund has been
contracted tor another year by the
Businessmen of Lakeview at a salary
of 1100 per month. This is good
news to the people of Lakeview. Mr.
Rice is a success as band master.
Tbe family of F. P. Cronemiller.
arrived here from Klamath Fulls, last
Saturday, and are greatly pleased
with their new home. They were
surprised to Hud such a pretty little
city, and such a busy one. We are
glad to welcorn3 them among us.
