Decline of Our Family Life.
By Profcaaor SHAILCR. MATHEWS. Dean of Ihc Unlvcrtltjr of Chicago
Divinity School.
DIVOKCK is increasing with A LA KM IN (J IJAI'IDITV.
The conditions arc much the same today as in tho days of
Jesus, when He forbade divorce, ulthough it had become so
common that u man might divorce his wife merely because
she was not a good enough cook. So with us, the family has become
a mere conventionality and a matter of jx-rsonal convenience.
THERE ARE MANY YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN WHO ARE
GROWING UP WITH THE IDEA THAT MARRIAGE, WHILE IT MAY
NOT BE SIMULTANEOUSLY, AT LEA8T MAY BE SUCCESSIVELY,
P0LYANDR0U8 AND POLYGAMOUS.
We fail to take our family relations with sufficient seriousness.
AVE CO INTO FAMILY RELATIONS WITH THE SAME
SAW. l'KOID THAT WE (JO OX A PICXIC. It is so much
cosier to write books about child training than it is to bring up boys
and girls.
Wo have need of better laws on divorce, we need better protec
tion for children, but it is the business of tho church to see that we
hivo NOT MERELY HKTTKK LEGISLATION, BUT BETTER
PEOPLE.

that If her churn U sour It will taint the

a churn. In the stomach and digestive

churning of butter. Is it not apparent
then that If this stomach-churn Is foul it
makes foul all which Is put Into It?
The evil of a foil stomach Is not alone
the baditsste In tb mouth and the foul
breath caused by It; iut the corruption of
the pure current 01 blood and the dissem

Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery
makes the sour and foul stomach sweet.
It does for the stomach what the washing
and sun bsth do for tha churn absolutely
removes every tainting or corrupting ele
ment. In this way It cures blotches,
pimples, eruptions, scrofulous swellings,
sores, or open eating ulcers and all
humors or d iseasti arisi ng from bad blood.
