The writer does Dot sign his name, and the article would naturally be considered the product of the pub lishers of the Paeifle Monthly, were it not for the fact that statements are made in it so blazeuly false that the reader can hardly conceive the pub lisher's motive for writing them, hence, the conclusion is quickly drawn that the writer is uobting more than a Klamath Falls "Booster". The Article says, in part: "Klam ath Falls, the county seat, controls the trade, not only of Klamath County, but also of Lake County." Klamath Falls does NOT control the trade of Lake County, NEVER DID, and it is a safe prediction .to say that It NEVER WILL. A thing could not be more impossible. The statement is preposterous and the writer baa said that which is not true, and if be knows anything of conditions at all, be knew bis statement was untrue, j The publishers of the Pacific Monthly i have been imposed upon by a Klam ath Falls Boomer (ang), who baa taken the opportunity to get bis false re ports into print and widely circulated. There is not a pound of freght sbp ped through Klamath Falls to Lake county. There is not a single resident Of Lake county who boys a dollars' worth of provisions in Klamath Falls bat on the other hand there are sev . era! residents of Klamath county who come to Lakeview to bay tfleir sup-. plies. The writer also assumes a great deal, when be Bays that "Klamath Falls will he the central division point between San Francisco and Portland". Dr. Ceorge Uilber Rancroft, the J humorist aud entertainer, accompan j led by D. Lillian Lewis, the voiallst, i and Impersonator, came in from j Klamath Falls Tuesday, where they appeared six nights. Dr. Bancroft and Miss Lewis will make their bow to a Lakevlew audience Saturday evening, (Vt. 12, at the Snider Opera House in a laughing character sketch, mtitled, "Nosee,"Dr. Bancroft is not a stranger to Lakview, be having lectured here six nights Hfteeu years Hk-o. We are pleased, however, to note the good condition in w hich he reported our plant. Mr. Chance states that he has inspected all the mills in this sec tion of the county, aud finds them in average condition with other mills of the state. He is a very pleasant gen tleman to meet. Two men, who are supposed to be the murderers of Ex-Sheriff, Harvey K. Brown, of Baker City, went to the jail a few nights ago and climbed ov er the wall where the blood hounds that were so closely tracking them were kept, and offered the jailor $2U) to kill the dogs. Upon bis refusal to do so they told the jailor that if be did not comply with their request tbey would blow up tbe jaiL The murder ers are supposed to be in Baker City. Easy to nix This. What will appear very Interesting: to many people here Is the article taken from a New Voik daily paper, giving a simple preserption, as formulated by a noted authority, who claims that be has found a positive remedy to cure almost any case ot backache or kindeyor bladder derangement. In the jollow itig simple prescription, if taken before the stai'e of Brigbt'a disease: Fluid Extract Dandelion, one-half ounce; Compound Karroo, one ounce; Conipouud Syrup Sarsaparilla, thiee ounces. Shake well in a bottle aud take in teaspoontul doses alter each meal aud again at bedtime. A well know u druggist here at home, when asked regard mg this prei-crip tiou, stated that the l.igredieuts are all harmless, and can be obtained at a small cost from auy good prescription pharmacy, or the mixture would be put up if asked to do so. Ho further stated that while this prescription is often prescribed in rheumatic atllio tlous with splendid results, he could see uo reason why it w ould uot be a splendid remedy for kidney aud nriu ary troubles and backache, as it has a peculiar action upou the kiduey struc ture, cleausiug ttie-e most Important organs aud helping them to sift aud filter from the blood the foul acid aud waste matter which cause sickness aud sutleriug. BAILEY & MASSINGILL'S Pioneer Store Klamath Falls bad given up the idea of having a fair until some one hap pened to tbink that tbey were getting all tbe money appropriated by tbe state for a district fair in Lake and Klamath counties, and that Lake county might get its share of tbe money if Klamath failed to bold a fair. This fact spurred them to action at once, and now they will have a fair this fall. Klama'h county could not keep all tbe states appropriation any way, it Lake county should decide to hold a fair. Of coarse tbe way tbe law reads Lake county would have to hold a fair the previous year bfore it would be entitled to its share of tbe appropriation for this district. There is some talk of holding a fair this year, and if tbe scheme is carried out, next year Lake county will get the fc'iOO from the state that Klamath has been getting.
