Koozer, editor of the Pino Creek Miner, who has been taking a vacation, visiting on tho West Side, has returned to Pino Creek and taken up strenuous duty on tho .Miner. Mis1 Jeuuio Dillon, of San Francisco arrived in Lakeview first of the week ou a visit with the family of Jas. Mc Shane. Miss Dillou is a step-daughter of Jas. McShane Sr. deceased, a well known resident of Lake County. Harry Veruon started for Salem Mouday, where ho goes to bring his sister, Minnie Vernon home. Minnie i has entirely recovered, and her many friends iu this valley will be rejoict-d to have her among them once more. The banquet given by the Encamp ment last Thursday after Installation was all that could be wished for, and was attended by most all tbe mem bers of that order who were in reach of here. Some were coming from llid well, but were unavoidably detained. Wm. lilurton was up from the State Liue Monday ou business. Mr. Iilur ton has purchased tbe Barber saloon, in New Pine Creek and will conduct that establishment in the future. The saloon is located just across the line in Modoc county. Tbe contest cases, in which Mr. E. (). Check and others of the North end of the county are interested, were postponed till Saturday, awaiting tho arrival of witnesses from Summer Lake. Tbe greater part of next week will be taken up with tbe cases. Frank Duke was up town Tuesday. He says his brother Jim is very busy those days plugging up the squirrel holes on the ranch, with snow balls. Jim expects that, as a consequence, the squirrels will remain in their holes all summer, waiting for Spring to come. John Siemson and Louis Dabner, the two notorious gas pipe thugs of San Francisco, who were captured there last fall, after repeated robberies aud murders, will be banged at San Quinton on March 22. Louis Sveder, will also be banged on the same date and tbe same place for the murdei of his brother-in-law. County Superintendent Willits start ed yesterday for the Northern part of the county on official business, visit ing the schools. He will visit tbe Clo ver Flat school today, and be at Pais ley Friday and Saturday, remaining there Satruday night for tbe I.O.O.F. Installation, and go to Summer Lake and Silver Lake next week.
