A pioposithm is on foot to restrict tl ft a it- Hiui uupportion repreienta tl. . 111 me M.iie legislature. ue counties of Eastern Oregon have ne-er had equal rights in the logisla tui and since the redisricting pro- koto ahpn Wasco county was m ,de a part o; tre district comprising 1 Li Cronk and Klamath counties, tb county has but one representative in , 1 no legislature and no seuator. At tl't ti i f we hud seuator aud a rep re . it 1; lve. The purpose for which W .fo Htt.u-hed having been ac complished, Wasco was taken off and Giant put ou, which still left this coun ty without possibilities of getting a senator. The move porposed now takes awav Grant and attaches Wheeler Here is a district reaching within 30 miles o the entire length of the state north and south, and without a rail road, telegraph line or even a direct stage line connecting. Mail trom If heeler county, intended for Lake tiew. goes by way ofPortland and is carried twicejacrosa the state, Into Cal ifornia, thence back into Oregon and to it destination. Under the present .nnnrttonment our district is entitl- r 1 ed to two representatives and one sen ator, and under the new apportion ment we will have one representative, and it is possible we will have to be attached to some other county maybe Mnltnnmah or some county up in Alaska in order to get a senator. Lake countv pays more state taxes according to its population and wealth than hit countv in the stite and has teaa chance of representation in tbe state legislature. Josephine county, for instance, with twice the population and twice the assessed wealth, pays half the state taxes that Lake pays. This injustice should have been rem edied in 1905. but nothing was done about it Lake county is in a hard row of tamps. And about the amount o' it, wa are harvesting what we have sown, to a very great extent. The city election will be held next Tneeday. We have not heard very Biai'b said about the election or who are candidates for councilmen. The nlr suggestion The Examiner has to Bake, knowing that every man in Lakeview knows every other man, and all know how the city government has been conducted, and whether it suits them or not. if they don't its their own fault, is the very best men tl at will accept the positions be elected ; men who know the needs of and have the ability to conduct the affairs of the city in an economical and yet bus iness l'.ke manner ; men who have re gard for the morality and well-being of the town and its people and tbe serve to stand by their principles, and men who have tbe character to con duct tbe town in the interest of the whole town and not toady to the sel fish motives of the few. Misery Loves Company. It is said that misery loves company, and hence the foreman of the Herald was highly elated on receiving the Lake County Examiner to find articles following searebeads transposed. A similar instance occurred on this pa per Saturday evening, which was caused by too much hurry to get moved Klmth Falls Herld. It is the move we get 011 i: in The Examier office to get ready to go tu press that causes the cvrr-ig. t.;, l'rv.
