Search, of Masuchuseits. who visit all world's fair aud views the school exhibits, mat also lectures in every state in the Uulouoneducutionnl matters, l.nke couDty also has the name of paying its leathers the highest price paid by any comity iu the state, which is atiot her evidence that our schools ar. auioi.g the best, nsthe highest pri.-eii teachers are sure to make the best schools. Then for, it is most import ant that we be represented iu every Conference held within our reach. f r the put pose of discussing school mat ters and devising plans to better the conditions in the state school laws. We heard 11 very thoughtful man say the other day that the school nt On-iron were almost ideal; they were good, and working to the apparent best advantage to the pup ils of the state, esjiecially the cuildren of the more sparsely settled districts, where facilities are most ditticuit to accomplish. Mr.Ackerman stated in the Examiner Otiice, while he was here a few weeks ago, that it was the out i-ide districts that mostly needed his attention and legislation, as the city schools were able to take care of themselves. Takingth'sview of the conditions, it is appareut that representatives from theseotifsidedis tricts are necessary in all discussions lor the betterment of the schools of of the state. Since the distance is so great to reach the places where these conferences are usually held as to make attendance by county sup-rin-tendeuts of Easteru Oregon counties prohibitory, it stems thai appropri ations by county courts for the penses of the trip would not be spent money.
