At Portland, Colorado, March 10th, two passenger trains on the Denver & Kio Grande railroad collided head on, and 30 persons were killed. Clarence Ptiillips, who stabbed Ed. Make at Cedarville last fall, has been indicted by the grand jury at Alturas. He was arrested ton the indictment and released on 5000 bail. Up in Crook county the sooialists will put up a ticket for the June elec tion. Announcement is made of the date of the primaries and convention, under the rules of the old convention custom replaced by the primary nom u utiug election law. . We regret to announce the death of Mrs. Itobert Nixon, wife of Jtobert Nixon, the veteran editor of the Yre ka Journal. Mrs. Nixon died March 13, at the age of 01 years. Pro. Mr. Schmidt says he intends to clear more land and seed it to alfalfa. He has hay enough to feed his stock about 20 days. If everybody would shovel the snow off the sidewalks it would )e more convenient for the iedentrian. The snow should lie shoveled off the walks in front of the houses, at least. The articles of incorporation for the Hunting Telephone 4 Telegraph Co., have been filed with the Secretary of State and a fiO year franchise granted.
