In this connection we especially inilorsi the tireless labors of Senators Mitchell ami lulton ami Representatives Hermann ami Williamson. We instruct the delegates for this convention to the lb-publican National Convention at t hlcago to vote first ami last for Theodore Koosevelt for I're-tideut, ami to use all honorable means for bring ing his nomination to pass. THE DELEGATION IN CONGRESS For the first time in years the State of Oregon is represented in both houses of Congress by a Htrotig, harmonious, united and effective delegation, inferior to none from the West. Their efforts In Itehalf of the Nation, their party ami their state have lieeii crowned with signal suc cess, and we hereby express to them on- confidence and esteem and pledge them our support In their further efforts to advance the interests of Oregon and the Pacific Coast. .MONEY Thanks to the courage and wisdom of two lb-publican Administrations and four Id-publican Congresses, the money of the Nation has Imvii securely established upon the gold standard, the stand ard of the enlightened nations of the world. The s-r capita circulation is the largest In our history, and every dollar of paper and coin Is as guml as gold. We commend the measures now pending in Congress, at tin; instance of Republican nieinlKTs, further amending the currency and banking laws In the direction of safety and elasticity. TARIFF We renew our allegiance to the principle of protection to American Industries. Tin merits of the Pingley law are attested by the unprecedented prosperity of the Nation since Its passage in lstt". Schedules must le changed from time to time, as new conditions arise, but when the tariff Is re vised it must Is by the friends, and not b.v the fss, of American industry. THE TRUSTS We heartily commend the fearless ami determined course pursued I i.v President Roosevelt and Attorney-General Knox toward the trusts, and we point with pride to the hostility aroused against the Administration among the speculators of Wall street and corporations that defy the law. Oliedience to the la w against monopoly indicts no hardship on any honest Industry, and the action of the President in the Northern Securities merger and other rases has only served to check dangerous sM'i-ulation and encourage every legitimate enterprise. THE PHILIPPINES We Indorse the policy enunciated by President .McKinley and followed by Stn ivtary Taft of "th Philippines for the Filipinos," and we es'ieclally commend the eurnest and Mrslstcut efforts made by Senator Mitchell for lower tariffs U-tween the Philippines and thff United States. We hold that the Philippines must lie retained b.v the United StateH for their own jjood as well as for a base of American Influence In the Far East, but that justice lequlreH the least possible burdens upon their commerce with the United States, that they may lie cemented to us by ties of wlf Interest ami affection. In the Interest of Pacific dcvcloymcut, we demand for the Philippines the same liberal and bencfl cent treatment that liun Immmi accorded to Hawaii and Porto Itlpo. Proud of the history and achievements of our party, and especially of the present Administra tion and the lieneficent results that our nation Is receiving therefrom, ami particularly our old Oregon Country, we confidently submit our cause to the patriotic citizens of our state for Indorsement and earnestly appeal to them to ahow their gratitude and appreciation to President Hoosevelt and our Republican leaders In Congress for honoring our history and aiding In the development of our match less resources. i ,,,,, II 0 ll IIMIM MIMIMI I Ml ! aini No. 6H1 M.i'l. on llu- J.l mi-l 41 Ii Vi-.ii.-..1iiy of earn m-.n'li In Mxaonti- Hall, al n i. ni.
