Again this week we received u let
ter from the Secretary of the Oregon
Information Bureau urging the co
operation of the people of Lake
county in the development of the
state, and asking that something be
done here to advertise our county so
that we may secure our share of the
immigration that is sure to come to
Oregon within the next year.
The Kin kead law went into effect

steaders could lile on 40 acres of
land in Central and Western Nebras
ka. About seven million acre are
subject to entry under this law In a
section of country where a man can
not make a living on 100 acres. In
fact the laud is good for nothing but
grazing lands.

F. K. Harris returned from Made
line Monday accompanied by his
wife who has lieen in San Francisco
for medical treatment. Mrs. Harris
is greatly Improved in health. Will

Creek for a few days' visit with Mrs.
Hereford's folks. They arrived
home Tuesday.
L. A. Moss ami son Stephen, and
Itlcli. Sherlock Jr. all of Paisley,
came down from there Sunday, re
turning Tuesday. Mr. Moss came
after miudiluery for haying. He
says haying has commenced there,
and good crops will lt harvested.
At the present time hay hands are
plentiful. Several strangers have
been eainied near Paisley for several
weeks waiting fo,r. haying to com

Mrs. Kvahma Aldrldge of Pine
('reek was received at the Salem
Asylum on the 7th. Her case Is of
an extremely violent nature. The
unfortunate woman has suffered for
the past two years and finally her
nervous system was completely
wrecked from long suffering. Mrs.
Mary S. Agren of Clatsop county
was received at the Asylum thesume
day.
At Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Frank
Wade was struck by lightning on
the Mil of July. The Wade family
had Ix-eii to Crab Creek, about a mile
from their home and when they re
turned Mrs. Wade got out of the rig
to open a gate In a wire fem e. She
was struck by lightning and fell to
her knees, when she arose, walked
about three steps and fell dead. De
ceased leaves three small children.
