Mr. Blair will certainly be elect ed this time by larger majority than any candidate ever received (or that office in lake County. J. M. Martin, the Kepuhlkan County Commissioner from Silver Lake, la only serving an appointed term, has maile faithful public servant, and in deserving of election. His opponent, William C. Currier, is an excellent gentleman also, but the nomination was not Bought af ter be him, and he repeatedly informed his friends that he was not an apirant (or political honors. Mr. Martin is an out and out raodidate (or the oltice and having servod in that capacity is faiu iliar w ith Uie duties of the position, the wants of the eople and the needs of the county. Mr. Martin has never asked for an election to ollice before, and when appointed to till Mr. IS il fry 'a place was not seeking the position, but was put forward by his friends. It is nothiiitr niore than right and just that he shoulJ be complimented bv an election, a his official record is clean and his qualifica tions for the position are unquestioned. Mr. Martin should receive the full strength of his party vote. Kedding had 120,000 Ore on May 3d. j V. C. knelling, a former l.akeview cil ien, lost his barber shop and contents. 11,000. Tom Hundley returned Uot Saturday evening from San Francisco where he bus resided for the past four mouths, attending night school in a course of electrical engineering, and doing con tract work by day. Tom says he had an enjoyable trip, and that 'Frisco is a good town to live in. The young people of the M. K. Young, the stockman of Kock Creek, arrived Saturday night from Oakdale, Cal., where he went a few weeks ago to visit his mother, mho was dangerously ill. After his arrival here Mr. Young received a message to the effect that his mother was not expected to live longer than a few hours, lie left for Kock Creek on Monday. Wm.
