LAKE COUNTY EXAMINER : U REVIEW, OREGON, SEPT., 12 1001. ABOUT ADVERTISING The Shrewd business Man Keeps His Name and Business be fore the Public Every Day In the Year. Answer iu.H the hist question tirst it is Uvause. au Hilveruiiient in The F.gniiiiuer reaches I the j pie, Invmise tins a- per tit. ils ilr- v.;t i:ito more homes than any other :u"T in Northern California or Southeastern Oregon. In this eiili'.'htentM a:e of vhnrn busi ness eoinjielition, when everyone is aroiin 1 to see where the lest hariEaina are to le had. ami to make their money go as tar s sissihle. ail vert i.-injt has he come an integral part of every business thul uVpeiiil on the hoying ptihlio for U'Hrt. That is why the merchant of Lakeview and New Pine Creek, and so many foreign advertisers seek pitace in this pajx-r. It is to let the puMic know what they have to sell, state their pri'es in many instances, Htid to call attention to s(H-ci:il inducements. Adver-ising is a direct business propo Bitijn by the merchant to the public and deserves the same careful consider ation as anv other business offer. And it is not out of place to fetate here that if you fail to read the advertisements in The Examiner you are not well io?ted and are not in a position to avail your ilf of the opportunities offered you to buy intelligently and get your money's wprth. Just now the big firms of Lakeview jre making special efforte to dispose of vliat sumnief itock they hate left on hand. They would rather eacrifice their goda and make room for their Fall stock than carry them over until next season. It is to your interest, therefore, to watch closely trie advertisements of tbe local merchants in The Examiner, every line of which is of vital interest to all who wish to get full valu for their money. Remember that the local mer chants advertise to keep yon posted. Boartf of Equalize. Notice is hereby given that the County Board of E jnalieation will convene at the Court House, in Lakeview, Oregon, on Friday September 27th. 1901, and will be session one week. Harney coanty stockmen are alive in their oppoeiton to leasing the public domain. It is a boat time for the stock men of Lake County to take some action. At a recent meeting of the Harney County Stock Asaoiation it was decided to pass resolutions condemning the pro posed land lease law. While the meet ing was not as largely attended as it ntight have been, it appears that the sentiment of the association ia almost uoanimously opposed to the law and they will fight it. The chairman appointed a committee of five to draw up a memorial to congress and a meeting has been call ed for Saturday September 21st. for the purpose of hearing the reiwrt of the committee. In the meantime the com mittee will talk with stockmen in general and find the sentiment of all on the matter. Hay For Sale. Morris Wingfield has about one hun dred and sixty tons of hay to sell. En quire of him at the store. 35-3 A Bonanza. Grimes' hot spring baths have been a bonanza to the owner this summer, ow ing to the shortage of water in the Lake view bath houses. This would he a fine property for some man with a few thou and dollars extra capital with which to make improvements. We miss our aCTess if at some day in the not far dis tant future this place does not become a favorite resort. It ia for sale. Fifty Dollars Reward. The man. who gathers pumkins is the man that plows all day, and the man who keeps a humping is the man that makes it pry. The man who ad vertises w ith a short and sudden jerk is the man who blames the editor because it didn't work. The man who gets the business has a strong and e'eady pull, and keeps the local paper from year to year quite full. He plans his advertise ment in a thoughtful, honest way and keeps forever at it until he makes it pay. He has faith in all the future, can withstand a sudden shock, and like the man of Scripture, has his busines on a rock. IIIIAI, FHUOI . Land Office at Lakeview, Oregon, I Aug. W. IMul.
