J Weilon'a fence on Main St., throwing tlu-m both off, Ineta lauding on the other aide of the fence. Three of Win. Hervford's child ren were walking along and the fraetious horse made a straight line for them, but they rrfinied injury by slipping through a gate. Fortunately no one was serious ly hurt. Mr. C. 1!. Ileryford, father of the Heryford Hros. of this place, was marr ied at Kcd liluff short time ago to Miss Jnsie Ileryford. They are both residents of Millville. Mr. Ileryford is one of the wealthiest in Shasta county, lie ii 79 years old and has Iwen married three times. The couple arrived in Lakeview u few days ago and are staying with II. It. Hervford's family i-orth of town. Walter .F. Shurz, familiarly known as Major, and 0. H. Thompson, two lively drummers, accMtipanied by their wives were in I.nkeview several days and loft via Adel Tuesday. They are combining pleasure w ith business, and are driving with their own conveyance. The ladies are enjoying the outing very much and their stay in Lakevijw was gpent in many pleasant ways. Mr. ami Mrs. L. (i. Head) and Mrs. M. It. Hart and daughter Ollie, arrived at their new homo at Lakeport, Cal., without incident. They like the place very much and Mrs. Hart has already purchased a desirable residence. The place is about the aizo of Lakeview but Ii much more picturesque, with its beautiful trees ami shrubbery and Clear lake it) the edge of town. It U amUsing tdliere Lakevtcw' fWioplo complain of the hilt (?; weather, while onvniay and night in the east would settle Vt with them for all the tVme. The cool nights and the comparatively coot day make one feel aa though they were having their summer outing in the mountains after a sample id the pastern weather, with their scorching da1' and uncomfortably hot nights. The littlo daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Perry A. Stanley died ncr Lakeport, Cnl., July 20th, and the funeral took place at Mlddletown on the amno Oay Their T.aku county Or., friends and n la lives will regret very much to learn ol the death. If the draymen's strike continues at San Francisco, our merchants and busi- nt-Hs men are likely to order goods from ! I'crtlaiul, Or., as they must have regu-j htr supples, says the Yreka Journal. j In this issue of The Kxaminer w ill oe i found the Sheriff's Sale for delinquent taxes, ihe first notice of this kind that has leen published in Lake county for a yreat many years. The number of names on the list is very small in comparison to that of many other counties, and the-) small amount of each assessment shows j that Lake County's taxes are preltv well ! collected up. Several amounts have, lieeti paid sin-e the list reached thisj office (or publication yesterday. The j showing is a very good one lor Sheriff, Dunlap and he' is setting a precedent J that should be followed by future sher-1 iffs. Still They Come. It is reported here that another big lot of sheep numbering nearly 200,000 head from Montana, are pointed toward Lake countv, and are Ixiund for ihe California market. It is thought they will pass through the eastern portion of the coun ty. All that is necessary now to com plete the devastation of the ranges in this county is for another large baud to ' go through the center, aa the band of 40,000 ftpoken of two weeks ago in al ready eating off the ranges on the West ern border.
