Jack foil und wife, of Mcel hwaiiip, were preparing to come to AltuniH, sayR the New Kra. Mr. Juckhou drove up for Mrs. JackNou to get into the buggy, but his fpirited team acted very fractious, o he decided to diive around for a while, to get them (piieted down. In stead of la-coming pacified, however, the animals became unmanageable and start ed to run, throwing Mr. Jackson over the dash board to the ground. In some way he was caught under the wheels of the carriage and dragged quite a dis- i tance, which bruised bun so severely that he Vtim rendered unconscious. When he was picked up and taken to his home it was thought that life was extinct, and coiisciotisiiitss did not re turn for almost three hours. As toon as he was able to sit up, Mrs. Jackson started with him for Alturus, for inedi cal 'treatment. Cpon ai riving here, Dr. Itlondin w as summoned, w ho announced that no lumen were bioken, although the patient was so severely bruised and shaken up that he would nut be able to be around for oome time. This was mi exceedingly narrow es cape from instantaneous death, as the road where the runaway occurred was veiy rocky, and it is a wonder that Mr. Jackson was not instantly killed when he was dashed to the ground.
