Miss IJirdie McCarty, formerly of Michigan, and late of Klamath county, tegan her duties in Thomas Creek dis trict last 'mewlay. L T. Sjence, of Soutli Dakota, and a graduate of the Springfield Normal, ojened the school at Crane Creek on Septemler 17th. Ixjuif Najwleon Chiquette, another new teacher in the county, opened the Cognw ellCreek school on Septemler 17th. Dexter F. Amick, the young -da-gogue, is engaged at New Pine Creek, having opened that Fchool Sept. 10th. Mips Lura ,Amick presides over the school at Clver Flat, having comment ed her duties there on the 17th. Mis Klla Callahan ii finishing her fall term at Drew's valley, and will teach the primary grade at Paisley thi winter. Prof. Willits will Ik the princi pal of the Paisley school, which will open in a few weeks. Warfield, who has been an em ploye of The Examiner for the past seven months, departed for Ashland with his mother last Monday. James Young of Cedarville, Modoc county, has purchased a millsiteon Cot tonwood creek ami some fine timber land in the foothills on the w est side of Goose Lake, and will build a sawmill thereon. An enterprise of this kind w ill prove a great convenience to some of the farmers on the West Side, who are now compelled to haul lumber for building purposes a distance of fifteen to twenty miles. Stock Purchases. Iouis Gerljer, the rustling stock buyer of Klamath, was here last week, and went to the northern valleys to receive some beef cattle he had purchased. He got 1o head from George Small of Sil ver Lake, 70 head from E. Si Hazle'on, and 222 head from Jack Parlin. Jr.. of Summer Lake, leides about 00 head from other parties. Phil Lynch was in from his mountain 6heep camp last Sunday. Lynch says he does not appreciate camp life as well as he once did, and is glad to get to tow n to see familiar faces. The funeral of William S. Morley took place from the family retddence in Lake view Tuesday at 2 p. m. under the di rection of I. O. O. F. Lodge No. G3, of which he was a worthy member. Ser vices were held at the grave in the presence of a large assemblage of sym pathizing friends. Large Audience at the Opera House to Greet Prof. Graham Interest ing Program Rendered. Last Friday night a large and enthu siastic audience attended the farewell concert given in honor of Professor A.A. Graham, who is soon to leave Lakeview for California. The opera-house was. w ell filled, w hich was an evidence of the appreciation of Prof. Graham's work in the uiusk-al circle since his arrival here. Prof. Graham's cornet solo was also en cored. It was heard for the first time in Lakeview last Friday night. Just before the last number on the program Prof Graham appeared and made a neat little peeh, thanking the Lakeview public lor the. many courtesies and favors received by him during his residence here, and fur the large attendance at the farewell concert.
