Death of C. L. Maxwell.

death, at that place on the date named,
of C. L. Maxwell, brother of J. V.
Maxwell, of Lakeview.1 Deeaj-ed was
one of the beet known merchants in
Oakland. He had been ill for eeveral
month?, though for the pat month bin
physician bad driven up all hope of bin
recovery.
Mr. Maxwell a a native of Pennsyl
vania, having been U.m in that Htatein
1841. A a young man be went to Iowa,
where he engaged in the hardware btif-i-new,
wliit h be followed up to within a
year of the time of hin death. Cominjr
to Oakland eighteen years ago he en
gaged in the frame bunne-, meeting
with goinl puccePf. A little over a year
ago his health began fading and lie de
cided to retire from hupinevs, which he
