Mr. Hankius will extend his trip to Prineville for the purpose of buying some thoroughbred bucks. A proposition is on foot to refund the f 125.U00 debt of Jackson county at the rate of 5 er cent interest. The present rate of interest paid by the county is fi per cent, and the refunding will save Jackson county $ 1,250 per year. E. C. Sessions, a highly respected citizen of Heno, died at that place Aug. 2fith. Deceased was in Washoe county lefore the town of Keno was thought of. He was the father of Charles and Edward Sessions, of Ft. P.idwell. A big gray team belonging to John George became frightened last Saturday afternoon and started at breakneck speed from Lakeview to the (ieorge home, near Thomas Creek. The animals were cap tured on the Slash road a mile out of town, but not until the pole of the wagon, and the double and singletrees, were broken ami loth axes sprung by a collision with a fence. Benson lias been invited by. the Republican State Central Com mittee of California to visit San Fran cisco and other places in that state and deliver a few campaign speeches in be half of prosperity, progress and good rnonev. The Klamath Republican says that Judge Benson will accept. Redding (Cal.) Searchlight: "Mrs. C. C. McCray came down from French Gulch Thursday morning and took the local train for her home in San Francisco. She spent the summer with relatives in French Gulch. Mr. and Mrs. McCray will leave San Francisco next week on a visit to Mr. McCray's former home in Missouri." George H. Ay res A Co. have moved into the new brick building on the oldj site. The big stock was placed in the j building during the past week, and I teams are on the way from the railroad J with a large additional stock. Thi makes our postmaster a salaried offic ial and necessitates the appointment of a deputy postmaster. The salary is j f 1,100 per year, with additional money for deputy, fuel and lights.
