Applepate sold to Silas Obenchain, of Langell valley, 200 head of cattle at $35 per head ; L. A. Lewis, Frank McCormack and Dave Hangh, of the iiig Klamath, sold 100 head of cattle to. I. C. Mitchell, of Ga zelle, Cal.; Judge Smith of Altamont, sold ten head of mules for $(525 to Mr. McHenry of Modesto, Cal. Mr. Mc Henry also bought about 100 head of mules of John "Wells of Bly. A great deal has been said lately re garding a miner's inch and what con stitutes a miner's inch of water. It may be of interest to some of our reader? -who have read the controversy. In measuring a miner's inch of water, the surface of the water is to be exactly six inches above the center of the dis charge.
