Ran his basic cot it>at training
<>n Oct. 31 at Ft Knox, which
is known throughout the U. S.
Army as the Home of Armor
and ( avalry. The major activ­
ity of this 110,000 acre instal­
lation is the training of young
men to becnm» soldiers. This
is considered the third largest
city in Kentucky. During
January 1975, Ft. Knox became
a limited access installation.
Mark's basic combat training
taught him the fundamentals
of soldiering This training in­
cluded military drill, physical
training, rifle marksmanship,
living under field conditions
and other soldiering topics.
Most of the instruction was
given by drill sergeants, who
are chose n from the most ex­
perienced and qualified non­
commissioned officers in the
army.
Upon the completion of this
seven weeks. Mark Is now
ready to take his advanced in­
dividual training which will
enable him to take his place
as a skilled and valuable sol­
dier tn the U S. Army. Mark
will take his AIT at Ft Polk.
La. which will last from four
to ten weeks.
A 1975 graduate of Santiam

holidays with his family, Mr.
and Mrs. Wm. McClintock and
Sue.
