Ray May, Detroit, was ad mitted to St. Vincents Hospi tal, Portland, Sunday, where he will undergo major hip sur gery 'Wednesday of this week. He will be glad to hear from his friends during this three weeks stay at the hospital. Mrs. Nils Bittner and daugh ter. Debbie, returned home re cently from a five-week visit with relatives in Denver. Colo.. Omaha. Neb., Sioux City. Ia . Cheyenne. Wyo. and other towns m the above mentioned states. Flying back to Chey enne, they were met by Mr Bittner’s brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar ' Loewe of Wiser. Neb. Accom panied by the Loewes the jour ney home* was made by car. The Bittners and their guests spent the weekend at New port where they made some mighty fine catches of Chin ook and silvers. Monday the family was busy preserving (smoking) their fine catch. The seventh of 10-series of colored filmstrips will be shown at the Idanha Com munity church during Sunday evening's 7 o’clock service. The film entitled “Between the Testaments, describes the years between events in Malac- I ki and Mathew, showing the | influence of Roman politics • and Greek culture and the Hebrew religion. Visiting area friends here Thursday through Sunday was Mrs. Leona (Lee Ware) Lee of Newport. She left Monday for an extended visit at the home of Mrs. Velma Aiderman of Stay ton. Harold Baker, who was re- I leased from Salem Memorial hospital earlier last week, was readmitted to the hospital early Friday morning for med ical attention. He was taken to the hospital about 1:30 a. m by Idanha Rurt.l Fire District ambulance. His condition Sun day was reported as fair. Mrs. Harold Baker. Idanha, sustained a severe cut to her finger last week. The mishap occurred while she was chop ping wood. Rev. Arvin Johnson, pastor of the Idanha Community Church, reported that there was a good turn out on the work night Thursday at the church. A new 244 by 40 build ing is being erected adjacent to the church. Most of the work is being done by volun teers with the assistance of a contractor. Anyone wishing to volunteer their services for this worthy cause will be wel comed. Rev. Johnson said, it is hoped the building can be completed before the fall rains set in. Martin. 23, Idanha, was injured Sun day when his car went out of control on highway 22 east of Idanha and struck a guard rail and then plowed into a dirt and rock embankment. Ke was taken to Salem Me morial Emergency Hospital Center by Idanha Rural Fire and was in fair condition Sun day night. *
