LOCALS Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Parker from Portland visited last Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Peterson and Mr and Mrs. Floyd Johnson at Gates. All of them were on the same tour to Europe last sum mer. Mr. Parker is a cousin of Henry Holzfus of Lyons. It has been reported that Pat Moore underwent open heart, surgery at the Veteran’s Hos- i pital in the San Francisco Bay area last Friday, January 21, and is recovering satisfactor ily He was flown from the Madigan Hospital in Washing ton for the operation which took twelve hours. A heart valve had become plugged and it was necessary to replace it as well as to transplant some blood vessels. Mrs. Moore and the couple’s son, Pat, and daughter, Patricia, have all been staying in Oakland, Cal ifornia, during the surgery and recovery period.
