    Reception Honors
Mrs. Jennie Moe
MEHAMA—A reception was
held in the Fellowship room
following the morning worship
services of the Mehama church
Sunday, November 21, honor­
ing Mrs. Jennie Moe, whose
85th birthday was Thanksgiv­
ing Day. A beautifully decor­
ated cake was served and Mrs.
Moe was presented with an
orchid corsage and a cornu­
copia filled with fruits and
other gifts.
Her four daughters, Mrs.
Henry (Jessie) Kornmann of
Vancouver, Wn., Mrs. Joe
(Arlyn) Jones of Klamath
Falls, Mrs. Lee (Ruth) Grant
of Macleay and Mrs. Larry
(Iva) Kimsey of Mehama were
present as well as two sons-in-
law and a number of grand­
children. Mrs. Moe accompan­
ied her son-in-law and daugh­
ter, Mr. and Mrs. Kornmann,
to Vancouver Sunday after­
noon and Mrs. Kornmann
brought her mother back home
on Tuesday.

For her daughter’s wedding,
Mrs. Goforth wore a blue crepe
ensemble with silver accessor­
ies. The groom’s mother chose
a pink dress with pink acces-
sories. They both wore pink
rosebud corsages.
Treasa Pemberton of Chico,
Calif., cut the bride’s cake and
Carolyn Thoman, also of Chico,
poured. Assisting were Kim
Randle of Ashland, Kathy
Johnson of Mehama, Janelle
Wendell of Albany, Bonnie
Voelzka of Chicago, and Lois
Woodruff of Goshen.
After a short honeymoon,
the young couple will make
their first home in Salem
where he is employed as an
electrician and she a cOsme-
tologist.
Frances Blumenstein, the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rob­
ert Blumenstein of Gates, was
recently selected by the senior
class and the Santiam faculty
to represent Santiam High
school in the annual Good
Citizen’s Contest. This con­
test is sponsored by the Daugh­
ters of the American Revolu­
tion and is on the Secondary
School Principal’s Approved
List of National Contests and
Activities
Senior girls who possess the
qualities o f Dependability,
Service, Leadership, and Pa­
triotism to a high degree are
eligible for this award.
Frances will be given a
questionnaire during the next
few days which will test her
knowledge and awareness of
our demoncratic system. On
February 5, 1972, she will be
a guest of the Good Citizen­
ship Tea, given by the Che-
meta Chapter of the DAR in
Salem.
Miss Blumenstein will be
competing for the district prize
which will be a $50 Savings
Bond and a chance to try for
the state ward, a $100 Savings
Bond. The State winner will
advance to the National con­
test; the winner of this will
receive a $1,000 scholarship to
the college of her choice and a
5 inch engraved silver bowl.
Frances has been active in
her school and community all
of her high school career. She
has participated in and held
offices in FHA, GAA, and Art
club. She is currently Presi­
dent of the Art Club and Se­
cretary of the Santiam High
School Student Body. She is
an honor student and was cho­
sen Girl of the Month for
April, 1971. She played a lead
part in a play put on recently
at the high school.
Besides her many in-school
activities, Frances finds time
to be a volunteer Cheerette
for Santiam Memorial hospital
and to lend her voice to the
Free Methodist church choir.
