The people The Career Training Center, located at 465 Ferry St., in downtown Salem, is a voca tional training school special izing in training medical re ceptionists. The booming field of medicine seems to require more and more professional, trained workers, and the Car eer Training Center is helping to meet this need. Medical Receptionist train ees are offered a fifteen week course, with emphasis given to both secretarial and medi cal training. Graduates qualify for positions in hospital, clin ics, rest homes, and doctor’s offices. Classes convene for three hours a day, four days a week under the leadership of registered nurses. Students are provided with medical of fice practice kits, and two ex cellent textbooks. Students who finish the course successfully are assist ed in securing positions. The demand for trained medical receptionists is growing rap idly, so some students have secured positions even before they graduated. Future plans call for adding other courses. The medical re ceptionist program will be the basis for the addition of oth er para - medical offerings, such as a Nurse’s Aid program. Courses for men will be added, soon.
