The Kellys flew down almost a week early to enable them to visit her aunt, Mrs. Patsy Shamburger, and their son, John Kelly, both of whom live in Hollywood. At present, John is employed at Television Sta tion KCOP, and was able to get tickets so that his parents could see the Lucy Show (live) at the Universal Studios, fea turing her husband, Gary Mor ton, as announcer of the show, Lucy Arnez, Gale Gordon, and Helen Hayes as guest. Other side-trips enjoyed with John and his friend, Miss Anita Young, were to the Mus ic Center in Los Angeles, made up of three huge theaters sur rounded by brilliant lights, fabulous fountains, and a moat Spending from Monday, September 27, until Friday, October 1, at Mrs. Shamburg er’s apartment near Hollywood Boulevard, where they visited the famous Grauman’s Chin ese Theater featuring “foot prints of the Stars,” the Kel ly’s then went to Long Beach to call on her uncle and aunt Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wing, after which they registered at their motel in Anaheim. Part of the afternoon on the way was spent visiting the Queen Mary, where the convention was originally scheduled, but which was not completed in time. The week-end was spent in registering and getting or ganized. as well as greeting other Oregonians as they ar rived at the Ivanhoe Motel.
