NUMBER 16
Up and Down
The Avenue
By Don Moffatt
This weekend will find
thousands of fishermen coming
up the North Santiam Canyon
to try their luck at trout fish
ing. This exodus from the
cities causes Highway 22
through Mill City to run near
ly bumper to bumper with ve
hicles of all descriptions, and
opens the busy season for
stores located in towns adja
cent to it. What the weather
will be for this weekend is
hard to say, but one thing for
sure, no matter what it is on
opening day Saturday, the
shores .of Detroit Lake will be
lined with anglers, and you
most likely will be able to
walk across the lake on the
boats and never get your feet
wet.
